The Cotswold villages here are nestled in rolling countryside, surrounded by fields of grazing sheep, and dissected by soothing streams. Campden appears to be derived from a Saxon phrase meaning, "Valley with fields."
The Campden parish was held by King Harold at the time of the Norman Conquest in 1066AD. Until, of course, those Normans came over! Mind you, they did build such lovely stone castles so it's hard to be too mad. Thank you Mr Norman.
