Ginnie is 6 days post heart worm shot. She whimpered and was panting her first night back from the animal hospital, but since then she has returned to her normal self— mostly.
Since she got the shots, she’s been guzzling down water like a race horse. This makes her pee every 30 minutes, and sometimes she doesn’t make it outside.
We were told that dehydration and a lack of bladder control are side effects of the medication, and although that’s been frustrating, it’s been her only side effect so we’re grateful.
Ginnie had been feeling well enough to attempt to play with us again, but we have to stop her and remind her to rest so that she can heal. Lick mats and antlers have been really helpful in keeping her still and occupied.
Gigi is struggling the most with this change. Ginnie is her best friend and she doesn’t understand why they can’t play right now. But even though she’s sad, she’s been very supportive and kisses and naps next to Ginnie when she’s feeling groggy.
All in all, it’s been a smooth first 6 days. Thank you to everyone who has been supporting us and giving us advice, it’s been super encouraging and helpful! We will continue to keep you updated on her progress 🥰
