Acoustic guitarists are boring folky wankers who may as well play the Blues as they both use 3 chords and sing songs of misery...and I include myself in that too 😉
In all seriousness, I have no beef with acoustic singer-songwriters from an artistic perspective. However as an occasional sound guy I turn up at a venue and find no DI box to connect the electro-acoustic guitar to a PA system. However this little (and I mean little) box of tricks is a game changer. A DI box with built-in stomp control over Pre-Amp, Chorus and Reverb. What sorcery is this?? I ordered this on a whim for £40 and my jaw dropped when I used it for the first time. The Pre-Amp moulds the tone between powerful and subtle, the chorus is lush and thick while the Reverb is admitingly too powerful for a box this small but with some fine tweaking it gives you a slightly retro echo that'll either sound like you're playing in an empty hall or through a hole into the 1960s. I played a bunch of songs through this and everything sounds richer, stronger and easier on the ear. I even tested it on a solid body electric guitar and was pretty impressed with the results - essentially what you put into it, you get more out. Not much in life guarantees that.
The DI is a fucking godsend as it means no more searching for or testing house DI boxes, although it also has a jack output as well as the expected male XLR connection.
All in all, going forward this is going to be essential for any live acoustic gigs I do.
