Question - whats more important physical health or mental health? ⁠ 🎨@healing_notes_⁠ **spoiler alert** They are EQUALLY as important as each other - Unfortunately the rest of society (including the workplace *cough cough*) hasn't caught up yet. If you had flu, or broke a leg, that would be debilitating right, you would probably call in sick and feel justified doing so. Now if you were feeling low, exhausted, anxious, stressed, irritable would you feel as confident to take the day? Or would you drag yourself in thinking that mental health isn't important enough to keep you away from your job? Well think about it like this... When you’re stressed whether at work or your personal life, your body believes it’s under attack and switches to what's known as ‘fight or flight’ mode. As a result, a mix of hormones and chemicals are released into your body so that you prepare for physical action. Blood might also be diverted to muscles, causing you to lose concentration or become less able to digest food. When the threat passes, your body usually returns to normal, but if you’re continually under pressure (i.e. going back to the same stressful environment) this might not be the case. Two hard and unfair truths: -People with serious mental health conditions are at high risk of experiencing chronic physical conditions. -People with chronic physical conditions are at risk of developing poor mental health As you can see mental health and physical health are COMPLETELY related. Anyone that struggles with mental health knows how debilitating it can be. I get it. The pressure of being seen as a good employee is real (trust me I've been there). But is it worth your health? My recommendation? - Put your health first - TAKE THE DAY. ⁠ 🗣❤️ If you struggle with self love, finding your self compassionate voice, never manage to cheerlead for youself (but are real acquainted with that critical bully in your mind) then check out the self love toolkit. How badly do I want it? Real bad. There's no better feeling than leaving it all in weight room. I think about all the things that life has thrown my way, all the pain I've endured, all of the depression, loneliness, anxiety, worry, anger about my circumstances, anger about all of my dreams being put on hold, anger about "No one" understanding what I'm going through, and I put it into every single rep. Anxiety is tricky. We got some great news this week regarding our home we are building and news of a sudden change in our future and even though its all good stuff it is still affecting my anxiety and mood. I'm feeling on edge, tired, jittery, happy, stressed, optimistic, and pessimistic all at the same time. Managing our moods and anxiety can be tricky and it can be surprising what can set it off. The trouble with being the life of the party is that you spend much of your time being "on" & ignoring what you have turned off in order to sustain the label.  In these images (22-32 yrs) I see the person who I spent a life trying to be something they weren't. Living up to a set of standards created by the masses.  I was ashamed of everything I hadn't accomplished & my circle reflected that fear.  Something deeply troubled inside my soul inspired a giant collapse at 32. Whether it was all the drinking & late nights, friends & partners I couldn't trust or a career that chewed me up & spit me out - I'll never know. Likely the sickening combination of them all brought me to a life altering nervous breakdown.  The fun loving, outgoing, adventurous person I see in these old memories had no more room for living inside the body that also housed the person I actually was. Still fun loving, outgoing & adventurous - but with a deep & pained need to approach life authentically whether that meant "losing it all" or not.  And that's what it meant.  When I shed that "she layer" I shed almost all my friends, my husband & to a large degree my family. I sloughed off a career that broke me & started over again - while everyone gasped & judged from the sidelines.  I share my story to give you a guarantee (something you'll rarely ever find in life). The guarantee that if you make changes, things will actually change. Usually for the better - eventually.

Heart palpitations , chest tightness, and feeling like something holding my esophagus to stop my breathing and me trying to control my breathing so I didn't pass out... that went on for about 30mins -1hr. It was soooooooo uncomfortable. I'm going to have my dream home one day. When on top of that you also get a negative reaction from your environment, this can actually reinforce what you were afraid of in the first place (not getting approval). Because of this you might want to stop your new behavior in order to regain the satisfaction of others. However, this is where you need to keep going. Be aware that people react that way because they are used to and expect a certain behavior from you. They become confused when their expectation of you suddenly no longer matches reality. It is up to them to adjust to that appropriately, not up to you. You've probably done that all your life. Research shows that statistically, people with low vitamin D were at a much greater risk of depression. On a standard laboratory range, vitamin D is between 30-100. ng/ml. However, we find that patients that have vitamin D levels that fall below 50 ng/ml have feelings of sadness, hopelessness, anxiousness, restlessness, and general discontent. How can the Disabled People’s Movement (DPM) sustain itself in an increasingly hostile setting? How can the DPM, BLM and other groups work together to find common ground and fight under the much needed banner of intersectionality? It’s past midnight but I don’t care, I ended up sleeping from 6pm till 9pm on the sofa with a blanket. Clearly what was needed after being poorly with food poisoning the majority of the day. My day has been SHIT, like smeared up the walls shit! I’ve honestly been so poorly today, I begged people for help that I knew probably couldn’t help. All while the terrible twosome (Rueben and Joseph) were on top form arseholes today. Broke my living room blinds, drawn on my white walls and Rueben even managed to switch off all my electrics and send me into panic because I couldn’t get them to turn back on. I was fully ready to delete social media, end my business and just run away. But then I remembered im a Queen in my own empire and I love what I do! Today was emotional, stressful and just damn right tiring. On the up side, I’m feeling a lot better now physically my tummy still gurgles at times but I managed to eat my tea and keep it down 👏🏻. Our gadget free pursuits continue. This evening, following a drumming lesson and a battle with homework (he won, there were tears of frustration and there is no way homework is more important than my son's anxiety levels), creating a Lego sweatshirt to wear to dress up day at school tomorrow. We had focus, some letting off steam and stims. It was great. Y likes to feel in control and I am working on changing my tone, tweaking his routine, and forever grateful he is sharing his feelings and coming to me for hugs and reassurance. I feel drained because my toddler doesn't stop all day which is physically exhausting, I feel drained from the emotional time with Y being a 10 year old and dealing with the changing emotions. But I go into this evolution of motherhood as we enter a new phase, with enthusiasm and pride. The expectations for myself are being set. I am spending this last month of 2020 really trying to zero in on my growth for next year. I'm taking advice. I am reaching out. Day #4 Kundalini Archer Pose 🏹 ”Anxiety is the dizziness of FREEDOM” ~ Soren Kierkegaard Experiencing anxiety can affect anyone at anytime, and when it strikes it can feel like your life is spiralling out of control, and it can feel like you are held hostage by your own inner dialogues. It takes strong self-confidence to be yourself and great courage to dare to fully live life in your own freedom. Fearless. Open your ❤️ and transform your fears, let go of your habitual patterns and boost your CONFIDENCE and COURAGE by taking the Kundalini Archer Pose. 🏹 🧘‍♂️ From standing, step the right foot forward (toes pointing straight) and bend the front knee, stretching the left leg behind with the left foot turned slightly outwards (away from the body). Keep a straight spine with the head above ❤️ above tailbone. 🧘‍♂️ Bring the right arm up parallel to the ground and pull the left arm back as if you are pulling a bow and arrow 🏹 Curling the fingers into the palms, thumbs pulled back 👍 🧘‍♂️ Keep the eyes open and gaze over and beyond the right thumb 👍 🧘‍♂️ Hold posture for 1-3 minutes, keep strong legs and soft ❤️ with long deep breathing. 🧘‍♂️ End by taking a deep breath in and out through the nostrils before gently coming out of the posture and moving on to the next side. 🏹 When you have finished the meditation on both sides, stand still (mountain pose), close the eyes and take a moment to notice any sensations in the body and mind before moving into your day again 🏹 📷 Wanderlust.com - Kia Miller
