Meet the Artist: Emily Hibbard
Emily Hibbard is the owner, creator and visionary behind the works of Flutterby Cape Cod. A Cape native, Emily incorporates her passion for seaside living through various organic mediums including slumped glass, stoneware pottery and locally sourced oyster shells. The conception of Flutterby emerged while pursuing a master’s degree in Entomology: the study of insects. Art was a release for her during graduate school and Emily often found herself entertaining peers while discussing science and sharing a glass of wine. A self proclaimed wine and shellfish enthusiast; Emily hopes to inspire others to share her love for entertaining; Cape Cod style.
Flutterby Cape Cod is recognized locally for creating unique, flattened wine bottle cheese trays. All bottles are melted in a kiln at Emily’s home studio in Yarmouth. Many familiar wines varietals can be found in her ever changing collection and custom orders are always welcomed. In addition to glass she produces wheel- thrown, functional stoneware pottery. Best sellers include chowder bowls, earring trees and Cape Cod stamped sponge holders; all of which make excellent hostess gifts.
New to Flutterby this year are trending decoupaged oyster shells. Locally sourced oyster shells are glazed in a goldleaf medium and inlaid with a variety of nautical illustrations.
You catch Emily’s pieces on her website: https://www.etsy.com/shop/flutterbycapecod/ or on social media @flutterbycapecod
