Day I Refused To Take Candies As 'Change' For Candies😎
*Simple customer service courtesies teach that the justification for certain practices should never really be about how much is involved, it should rather be about what the customer wants and how he wants it = Experience!
*Recently, I started mastering the capacity to say 'No' whenever I'm being lured to forgo my 'change' when I go shopping.
*Change is a word with a couple of meanings, however in this context, I refer to the 'Change' which should mean, "Coins as opposed to banknotes", according to an online dictionary definition.
*So you see, some things we call change are not really 'change' o😁 (But that's not the point here today).
*So, now let me share my recent experience as a customer with you to drive today's point home.
... All categories of traders, merchandisers, vendors, etc., this is for your special attention...
*On this good day in November 2020, I had gone to a shopping mart, (where I visited regularly), to get packs of candies meant for a client's function.
*Done, I arrived at the cashier, made payment and waited for my 'change'.
*Then the usual request/notification followed:
#Cashier: Ma, could you please pick candies to make up for your balance, because I DON'T HAVE CHANGE🤔
#Me: No please, as you can see, I actually came here to pick packs of candies. #lobatan😁 #notocandiesforcandies😎
*That experience gave me a nudge.
*What's this practice where the customer is either asked to pick up his balance when next he visits, or trade it off to the trader as an extra expense outside his original shopping budget?
*Yours truly, I first gave the cashier a reorientation, I then insisted on getting my due.
*I have since done that each time I made a cash transaction.
*As I earlier mentioned, this isn't about how much a customer has to unwillingly part with or what it eventually adds up to inside the seller's coffers.
*It's about whose interest should be paramount during such exchanges...
*Great Customer Service should provide ease of transaction!
Have a beautiful weekend people! ❤️
