“All for one and one for all, united we stand, divided we fall”.
The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my favourite French classics and my first book by Alexandre Dumas. I’m excited to read the rest of his work, particularly The Three Musketeers: a swashbuckling epic set in 1620 France. The book is richly populated with romantic heroes, kings, queens, cavaliers, criminals, all in a whirlwind of adventure, love, scandal, espionage, conspiracies and vengeance. The story is part of The D’Artagnan Romances which also includes The Man in the Iron Mask. I’ve watched the 1998 film adaptation featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and I highly recommend it.
