Kitten season has officially begun at @ashleyskittenacademy Thank you @winstonischill for connecting me with these mamas who were in need of some help.
1st mama Scarlett has 1 kitten, 2-3 days old. She is sweet but cautious. She’s already purring. She has a suspicious large lump on her side and a matted spot on the other side. I’m not sure if it’s a wound that’s healing or a matted over nipple, but I’m letting her settle in with her baby boy and we will set up a vet appointment to have her checked out as soon as we can.
Second cat named Harriet is due within a week. She has been living outside and this is not her first litter (nor is it Scarlets). She is very scared of me and felt safest for now at the top of the cat tree. I decided to give her the Cat Art foster room since she’s used to being outside and I’m afraid in a small space (like the bathroom Scarlet is in) she might panic and run up the shower curtains. She growled at me a tiny bit, so I set her up with everything she needs including a nesting box and left her to settle in.
Our aim at @ashleyskittenacademy is to make sure these girls never have another littler of kittens again.
I do not want to go into detail about where they are from, but we are happy they are here and can’t wait to help them on their journey to a happier healthy life.
Tomorrow I will be returning to Soap Lake to drop off the TNR mama cat in my garage as well as try and trap the last mom cat at the site. My mom is home and will be watching these guys and Gus. ❤️
