And here’s why I started @rescuelights I want to share what made me decide to start raising $ to help rescue dogs receive training. About 4 years ago we adopted our pup DiMaggio , no one knows his back story and that’s ok. We are here to help him write the rest of his story. DiMaggio as some of you may know is an entire mood trapped in a furry body.I wanted to make up for dimaggios shitty past so I babied him, spoiled him basically he had me trained. He soon started acting out and it began to escalate to where he was redirecting his frustration towards us. I was lost and honestly didn’t know what to do or where to turn but I knew I had to help him. Thankfully we knew @natethedogman . Nate began helping us as owners be better owners. I was doing more harm to DiMaggio then good and I didn’t even know! DiMaggio because he had no structure was taking control of every situation... I was actually loving DiMaggio too much and not letting him be a dog. I had to learn thatDiMaggio is a dog first and then he’s DiMaggio - he needed structure and communication. Nate trained both ends of the leash and spent endless amounts of time making sure WE as owners understood what we needed to do in order to help DiMaggio thrive. Because of training DiMaggio is a happier dog, our bond is stronger and the communication is clear.Training isn’t a one time thing... it’s an on going commitment to continuously keep a strong bond between you and your dog. I feel there are many more dog owners out there that might feel lost, or like they are bad pet parents BUT there is help out there. Remember there are no bad dogs. And it’s ok to ask or look for help. After this experience I realized that so many shelter dogs so have behavior issues none of which is there fault. If we can help them receive training we can help set them up for success. #rescuelights#adoptdontshop#rescuedogsofinstagram#rescuedismyfavoritebreed#dogtraining#dogsneedstructure#dogsofinstagram#dogsofinsta#doglife#dogproblems#pitbullsofinstagram#shelterdogsofinstagram#rescuedogsrock#natethedogman#happydoghappylife
Yes, my attention has lately been elsewhere than flirting with you guys here on Instagram. 🙈 But I’ll soon be back more frequently, I promise.
I’ve kept myself busy with a lot of training and also simply enjoying the summer.
I felt it was about time I let you know I’m fine and I also want to wish you all a Samazing weekend 💙
My weekend will include obedience class tomorrow and agility on Sunday.
