I know, it sucks. โ Solution: But the best way to eliminate that feeling is to JUST DO IT! You'll be happy once you've done it. ๐ฅNo motivation to get up: Some days you just don't feel like getting out of bed - nice and warm under there, you have nothing to do, etc. โ Solution: Deliberatley plan something the night before that you'll look forward to. How much water should we be drinking each day? So many say 2 litres a day but is that for everyone? I read yesterday that actually we should be drinking half a litre per 15kg of body weight. So anyone above 60kg (๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ) needs more than that. And is we exercise a lot or live in hot places (yes to both!) we need more. And if we drink a lot of alcohol or caffeine we need more. I aim for 3 litres a day but usually end up having more. I always start the day with a large pint and I have a water bottle with me at all times. What surprised me the most was what I read about hydration and the brain. Tests done on drivers who were dehydrated showed their reaction times were significantly slower if they were dehydrated (in some cases similar to someone measuring 0.08 on the alcohol test kit) and kids who had a large glass of water before an exam performed significantly better than those who didnโt! This is relevant to me because I feel empowered & strong practicing pull ups. I can do about 5 now. โฃ S- involves a SPECIFIC exercise. This could also be a habit like โI will be at a specific class every Tuesdayโ Or a target time for an event (e.g running or push ups in 30 seconds) M- involves a numerical, MEASURED amount A- itโs ATTAINABLE because five months is a realistic amount of time for this person to increase pull ups by 50%. This isnโt true for everyone and depends on their baseline. I have really struggled with goal setting and keeping up with targeted goals, but this year is new and fresh. For many it may be easier to look at very specific goals but for the spreads purpose I made mine super vague. So far, I've done a few yoga session with @adrienelouise January challenge. Yep...getting enough water is HUGE for your health. Weโve all seen the statistic...we are made up of 60% water. So what?? Well...hereโs what. Being hydrated helps our bodies distribute nutrients, helps digestion (I need this ๐๐ผ), helps with energy AND healthy skin! Boom. So if youโre like me and youโre making your health a priority...water intake is a great place to start. But how much should I drink?? Like with most things...it depends. Your weight, activity level and where you live make a difference. But a good rule of thumb is 1/2 to 1 ounce of water per pound of body weight. I personally drink a gallon a day. Yes...I pee a lot. Youโre welcome. #watertip Use a water bottle and carry it with you everywhere. I use a 40 oz bottle (and stickers make it more fun)and I commit to finishing it 3 times over each day. We donโt have to be the 100% picture perfect image of health every minute of everyday to be healthy. We do, however, need to consistently practice healthy habits to live our best. ๐คธ๐พโโ๏ธ โฃ Letโs recap Mindful Eating: โฃ ๐What to Eat- consistently eating whole, minimally processed foods serves us best (e.g Think apples instead of apple juice or think grilled chicken instead of fried). Eat less than 50g of added sugar a day. We must take responsibility for our personal health without letting perfect be the thief of great! โฃ ๐ฝHow/ How Much to Eat- slowly (ADDENDUM: not for those who are trying to gain weight, theyโll eat a little faster) & free of distraction (like tv); put down utensil in between bites. โฃ 4๏ธโฃ meals per day of the one (or two for males) of the following: palm of protein, fist of vegetables, scoop of whole grain carbohydrates, and a thumb of fat๐๐พ Eyeball it and listen to your body (donโt eat until stuffed) โฃ When to Eat- when weโre hungry. Sounds simple enough. But how often do many of us ignore our hunger signals? Waiting until we are stressed. Or using food when weโre bored. Consider about 3-4 hours between meals. (ADDENDUM: light fruits make great snacks, nuts of course if youโre not allergic, vegetables and stay hydrated.
