How To Not Feel Drained Everyday (JUST DO THIS!) Here's a few likely culprits as to why you feel like snoozing every morning: 💥Not enough sleep: We've all been there - late night with friends, couldn't sleep, or just flat out refusing to go to bed. ✅Solution: Make sure you're getting the right amount of sleep for you. At least 7 hrs is the recommended amount. 💥Poor sleep: If you're mind is racing after going to bed, chances are your sleep won't be that great. ✅Solution: Sit in a quiet space, close your eyes, and take deep breaths to quiet your mind. 💥You're procrastinating: Ever remember you have to do something you don't want to do just after waking up? I know, it sucks. ✅Solution: But the best way to eliminate that feeling is to JUST DO IT! You'll be happy once you've done it. 💥No motivation to get up: Some days you just don't feel like getting out of bed - nice and warm under there, you have nothing to do, etc. ✅Solution: Deliberatley plan something the night before that you'll look forward to. That way, you'll be more than excited to get up the next day! 🔥Whatever is causing you to feel drained, find it. How much water should we be drinking each day? So many say 2 litres a day but is that for everyone? I read yesterday that actually we should be drinking half a litre per 15kg of body weight. So anyone above 60kg (🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️) needs more than that. And is we exercise a lot or live in hot places (yes to both!) we need more. And if we drink a lot of alcohol or caffeine we need more. I aim for 3 litres a day but usually end up having more. I always start the day with a large pint and I have a water bottle with me at all times. What surprised me the most was what I read about hydration and the brain. Tests done on drivers who were dehydrated showed their reaction times were significantly slower if they were dehydrated (in some cases similar to someone measuring 0.08 on the alcohol test kit) and kids who had a large glass of water before an exam performed significantly better than those who didn’t! Our brains need so much water! Happy first #WellnessWednesday of 2021✨ ⁣ Let’s recap S.M.A.R.T goals🎉 ⁣ We set goals that are S.M.A.R.T: S for Specific M for Measurable A for Attainable R for Relevant T for Time Oriented ⁣ EXAMPLE: I will be able to do 1️⃣0️⃣ pull ups by May 8th. This is relevant to me because I feel empowered & strong practicing pull ups. I can do about 5 now. ⁣ S- involves a SPECIFIC exercise. This could also be a habit like “I will be at a specific class every Tuesday” Or a target time for an event (e.g running or push ups in 30 seconds) M- involves a numerical, MEASURED amount A- it’s ATTAINABLE because five months is a realistic amount of time for this person to increase pull ups by 50%. This isn’t true for everyone and depends on their baseline. I have really struggled with goal setting and keeping up with targeted goals, but this year is new and fresh. For many it may be easier to look at very specific goals but for the spreads purpose I made mine super vague. So far, I've done a few yoga session with @adrienelouise January challenge. Did you know that good health can pretty much be boiled down to just 7 things?? Of course I won’t leave you hanging...I’ll share all 7, but the first is water. Yep...getting enough water is HUGE for your health. We’ve all seen the statistic...we are made up of 60% water. So what?? Well...here’s what. Being hydrated helps our bodies distribute nutrients, helps digestion (I need this 👋🏼), helps with energy AND healthy skin! Boom. So if you’re like me and you’re making your health a priority...water intake is a great place to start. But how much should I drink?? Like with most things...it depends. Your weight, activity level and where you live make a difference. But a good rule of thumb is 1/2 to 1 ounce of water per pound of body weight. I personally drink a gallon a day. Yes...I pee a lot. You’re welcome. #watertip Use a water bottle and carry it with you everywhere. I use a 40 oz bottle (and stickers make it more fun)and I commit to finishing it 3 times over each day. Donc, si je pèse 150 livres, ⅔ de ce poids (ou 67%) est 100,5 oz ! donc en français, ça donne : si tu pèses 68 kg, il faut boire 3l /j ! - Ne prenez pas votre téléphone au lit (#COUPABLE) - Écrivez dans un journal de gratitude tous les jours, même une seule chose ! - Faites votre lit tous les matins - Faites un vrai compliment à quelqu'un de nouveau chaque jour - Mangez au moins une portion de légumes à CHAQUE repas (ça change tout !) - Allez au lit 15 minutes plus tôt, levez-vous 15 minutes plus tôt... Do you like water? Do you drink enough? I am usually pretty good with keeping topped up. But when I am busy I sometimes forget to have enough...and boy do I feel it. Today I increased my exercise, but forgot to increase my water. I have felt so tired and lethargic this afternoon! Then I realised I needed hydration! Every cell in our body needs water to function properly. TOP TIP for non water lovers: 🚰 pour a large glass or ceramic jug of room temperature water, add slices of cucumber, lemon and mint or orange and fresh ginger or any other fresh fruit and herbs to flavour Adults should aim for 2.0 to 2.5 litres per day. We don’t have to be the 100% picture perfect image of health every minute of everyday to be healthy. We do, however, need to consistently practice healthy habits to live our best. 🤸🏾‍♀️ ⁣ Let’s recap Mindful Eating: ⁣ 🍐What to Eat- consistently eating whole, minimally processed foods serves us best (e.g Think apples instead of apple juice or think grilled chicken instead of fried). Eat less than 50g of added sugar a day. We must take responsibility for our personal health without letting perfect be the thief of great! ⁣ 🍽How/ How Much to Eat- slowly (ADDENDUM: not for those who are trying to gain weight, they’ll eat a little faster) & free of distraction (like tv); put down utensil in between bites. ⁣ 4️⃣ meals per day of the one (or two for males) of the following: palm of protein, fist of vegetables, scoop of whole grain carbohydrates, and a thumb of fat👍🏾 Eyeball it and listen to your body (don’t eat until stuffed) ⁣ When to Eat- when we’re hungry. Sounds simple enough. But how often do many of us ignore our hunger signals? Waiting until we are stressed. Or using food when we’re bored. Consider about 3-4 hours between meals. (ADDENDUM: light fruits make great snacks, nuts of course if you’re not allergic, vegetables and stay hydrated.
