currently blogging my top 10 favorite hikes in Washington I’ve done in the past 3 years! I also have a lot of hiking posts on my blog, so check it out at your downtime and plan for your future trip! 😉
For those who are still hesitating, you don’t need to have boots or any special gears to start hiking. I didn’t even buy my first hiking boots after over a year of active hiking. I hiked in my Nike sneakers and refuses to buy hiking boots because I thought they weren’t cute.
A tip to get started on hiking is to start small and locally. You’d be surprised as to how many there are out there, and make sure to pick the distance and difficulty depending on your fitness level and how much time you want to be outside. Check the weather (best is on a sunny day, preferably in the spring, summer, or fall) and let someone know where you will be.
There are also tons of recommendations on essentials (what to wear, what to bring, etc) and rules when you’re outside like pack your trash out and don’t feed the animals. Also please be mindful of others around you. Those are pretty much the basics, so plan ahead if you can. However, at the end of the day, don’t let anything stop you from going outdoors! Have fun and be safe!
