Cage Tour from tiktok: fredrickthehamster🏠🐹
🌻A hamster cage should be a minimum of 450 square inches (for reference, Fredrick’s is 520)
🌻The base of the cage should be at least 6 inches and a section of the cage should have bedding this high so that the hamster can burrow, as it is their natural instinct to do so.
🌻A wheel should be at least 10 inches wide for a Syrian hamster so that their back doesn’t bend when they run. The wheel should also be plastic or wooden and have no gaps, as hamsters can seriously injure themselves and lose limbs if they get trapped.
🌻Wood shavings have been known to cause respiratory issues and skin allergies for hamsters and in worst case scenarios can be fatal. Whilst it is more expensive it is always safest to buy a dust free bedding. You can reuse 50% of bedding after a clean out to reduce your hamsters stress so they still have their usual smells in their environment, which will also save you money.
I’m going to post on my highlights soon about all of the items in the cage✨
