Self-care. What does that mean to you?
It means so many things. There is mental self-care, emotional self-care, and physical self-care. And it looks different for every person.
It has been the answer to stress. Well at least some of it. Illness, depression, anxiety, and all the other ugly things that can come up for us. Self-care can help you cope.
Since self-care looks different for everyone the options are endless. You have your ideas of self-care and then the ideas of many others. You can do both. You can get some really good ideas from other people and their techniques.
The key is to implement them. Sometimes we get so busy or, let's admit it, a little lazy and we neglect ourselves. We don't do the things we know we need and we pay for it.
Without self-care, we would have so many bad days, stress-related illnesses, and breakdowns. Our health would pay so badly and we would suffer the consequences.
We have to give our body, mind, and soul the proper nourishment for it to grow and for you to maintain a healthy mindset. Of course, that's where good self-care skills come in and save the day.
Sometimes we don't do self-care because we may feel that what it entails is selfish or self-centered. That it focuses too much on yourself and maybe you don't feel "worthy". Well, you are 💗. You truly are. So tell that little voice to back off and just jump into the self-care you need.
What are some good self-care habits you ask? Well let's start with sleep - get proper sleep. Do a facial at home, soak in a nice hot bath, get a pedicure (both men and women do this), fix yourself your favourtie snack.
Pamper yourself for the day, go on nature walks, take a swim, get a massage. So many different things you can do.
