Got Your Back ~ Part 2
Shiro looked at the dashboard built into the suit. It had been exactly forty two doboshes from when Keith split up from the rest.
“Quiznak, where is he?” Pidge paced around, agitated.
“He’ll be here soon,” Hunk said, trying to sound optimistic.
“Wait, stop,” Shiro motioned to Pidge to stop pacing. “Listen.”
Footsteps. Coming towards them.
Hunk loaded his shoulder cannon, Pidge lashed out her taser and Shiro activated his arm, ready to attack.
The footsteps were getting louder and louder.
“Who’s there?” Shiro demanded.
A dark silhouette started to take shape as it neared the paladins and they all tensed. But then, in the light it revealed who it was.
“Lance! You’re alright!” Pidge exhaled. She lowered her bayard, but then they saw.
Lance looked horrible. He wasn’t hurt, but his eyes were red and tears were streaming down his face. In his arms, he was carrying a limp figure: Keith. He lay in Lance’s arms unconscious. A line of blood was trickling down Keith’s mouth and a there was a thick gash in the middle of his chest that was bright red. He got stabbed.
“Oh my god...” Hunk’s eyes widened. “Ke-“
“We need to leave,” Lance interrupted. “NOW.”
There was an edge to Lance’s voice, one that none of them had ever heard before. He sounded angry, resentful, grief stricken, but it was a type of blame that he wasn’t inflicting upon them. More like... he was blaming himself.
