Without exaggerating, crossing the Sumatra island from North to South on my hand-made bamboo bike is the most tiring part of the whole 25,000km journey... there were thousands of hills on that road man!! Anytime I would have climbed up one hill, I could already see the other one coming. This felt endless, plus the overwhelming heat, this was mentally really challenging. I tried once to take a “shortcut” recommended by google maps, but damn it, this was hell: stuck into a thick mud right in the middle of the jungle, dehydrated, mentally and physically lost, wondering what’s the heck am going here?!! But it’s alright, now I can joke about it.
