One of the BIGGEST reasons why people don’t improve in the gym or see physical progress is simply because they aren’t getting stronger❌ They have no programme, no structure, no periodisation and they chop and change exercises every workout with no emphasis on progression . Strength improvements really don’t need to be anything drastic 🔊 you don’t need to start start squatting double your body weight or start a powerlifting programme 🔊 - it just requires making small incremental progress which add up and make a BIG difference over the long term🔥 . 🤔HOW???🤔 . 💪🏼LIFT MORE WEIGHT FOR THE SAME REPS - If you used to be able to deadlift 60kg for 10 reps and now you can deadlift 70kg for 10 reps : you have got stronger! . 💪🏼USE THE SAME WEIGHT FOR MORE REPS - if you used to be able to shoulder press 12kg for 8 reps but you can now do it for 12 reps : you have got stronger! . 💪🏼YOU USE THE SAME WEIGHT FOR THE SAME AMOUNT OF REPS BUT YOU’VE MADE HUGE PROGRESS TO YOUR TECHNIQUE - if you used to squat 60kg but could barely squat past parallel and cheated the weight up on every rep, but now you squat 60kg with full range of motion and using only the intended muscles : AGAIN, you have got stronger (technique is just as important when it comes to progressive overload!)💫 . 🏆Your goal shouldn’t be to switch up your exercises 24/7 and try out all the different cool looking instagram workouts you’ve saved ❌ but instead to consistently get better at the basic key lifts, keep adding weight to the bar/adding reps and striving to improve your technique. |INSTAGRAM VS REALITY 📸 Nella realtà non siamo sempre come si vede su Instagram, in cui le foto sono sempre scattate dal profilo migliore per farci sembrare perfetti, più tonici, con più curve e muscoli, dove il flex è all’ordine del giorno. La realtà è fatta anche di praticità, vestiti comodi e capelli arruffati, di allenamenti intensi, ma anche di giornate passate in ciabatte e pigiama a fare esattamente nulla. ➡️Foto scattata nel bel mezzo di un allenamento di dorso al parchetto di calisthenics: faccia strana perché c’era il sole basso, arrossata dalla fatica e lo sforzo, ma soprattutto i 34 gradi (non potete immaginare il calore che sale da quel pavimento), sudore livello Pro, capelli completamente bagnati. |PERCHÉ NON RIESCI A COSTRUIRE MUSCOLO? 🏋🏼‍♀️. Costruire massa magra in realtà non è così difficile: la parte più difficile è essere pazienti e accettare che si tratta di un processo che richiede molto tempo. Ricordate: i risultati li vedrete a lungo termine e non in una settimana! ➡️ Innanzitutto dividete i gruppi muscolari e allenateli più frequentemente durante la settimana...io ho visto grandi cambiamenti proprio quando ho iniziato ad allenare le gambe 3 volte a settimana. Preferite anche esercizi multiarticolari! ➡️ È brutto lo so, ma dovete instaurare un surplus calorico per crescere muscolarmente, almeno per 6 mesi: non alternate troppo spesso nel breve periodo fasi di bulk e cut. Anche per me è stato difficile accettare che si debba prendere un po’ di grasso in questa fase, ma non si può rimanere sempre definiti! Limitate il surplus a 300kcal giornaliere per prendere la minore percentuale di grasso corporeo possibile. ➡️ Non ci sono integratori magici!! Do you train as hard as possible? Or do you tell you self you can’t do it before you have even tried? - Last night I had to chest press and the only dumbbells available after my warm up sets where 2 20kg dumbells. FAILURE and PROGRESS➖ VIDEO 1 - me yesterday getting a little too excited as I felt good and going for a squat pr of 150kg (330)lbs a number which I have been wanting to hit for a while and after doing it looking back on the video I realised I was far off depth which honestly made me feel bad as I don’t know why I didn’t just go down that much further! ➖ VIDEO 2- This is 2 weeks ago where I tried the exact same weight and it just completely obliterated me🤣 ➖ The main reason I’m posting this is for me failure and progress coincide with one another as you would’ve have even thought about trying a certain weight a couple years ago but now you’ve progressed and you’re going for it! ➖ You need to be able to prepare to fail now and again as it’s important to look at areas where you can improve! ➖ BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD AND COME BACK FOR VENGEANCE 🦍🦍

BL🔴🔴DY CHIA PROTEIN PUDDING (34g Protein!) ❌WARNING❌ GRAPHIC SCENES SWIPE FOR A BLOODY MESS ➡️ Well this was fun to make (and eat) With an extra boost of bug protein (shoutout to @beargrylls for the inspo) Try... if you dare 😏 Ingredients: 🌟2 tbsp @myvegan chia seeds 🌟80g frozen bloobs 🌟80g frozen raspberries 🌟30g @myvegan vanilla soy isolate 🌟185ml @alpro unsweetened almond milk 🌟@myvegan vanilla flavour drops 🌟Bugs (optional) #proteingains Method: 1. Start by making the chia pudding by adding the milk, chia seeds, protein powder and flavour drops. (Hack: to mix without chia seeds sticking- add a protein shaker ball) 2. Leave the mix in the fridge for at least 1-2 hours or overnight to thicken. 3. Get a jar and layer the blueberries, chia seed mix and top with the frozen raspberries. Top set of bench press today from week 4 of the powerlifting plan. Worked upto 2 x 2, with last rep paused at 100kg. I’m so happy with the speed it moved at on both reps. Showing real signs of progress from this plan that utilises much more recovery , compared to before where I’d just throw on 2 and a bit plates and try get reps twice a week. I could have made a complicated set of abs workout variations.. but the truth is ... my 10 mins abs are very basic most of the time. COVID POSITIVE DAY 1💚 when I got my results this morning, even though I was expecting a positive test it still took me back quite a bit. I couldn’t quite believe it, just written down on paper felt a bit surreal. Old Ellie vs New Ellie 👀 Old Ellie would look in the mirror, pinching at the bits of skin on her body, such as her tummy, thighs, underarms, chins... and hate herself. 😢She’d think “oh why did I have that pizza?!” Or “I should have done that class yesterday instead of watching TV” or “I need to stop eating so much!”. Old Ellie would sit there & punish herself for having a takeaway or having a complete rest day. FOR NO REASON. I don’t think I was alone with this way of thinking. 🧐 We put way too much unnecessary pressure on ourselves nowadays, and often enough do more bad than good!🤒 To get out of this ridiculous self-hate cycle, I began planning my meals and workouts for the week; choosing foods I liked and workouts/classes i liked. Especially women, so many women are scared of going to the gym these days. 🙃 So here’s a few things that might boost your confidence: 🔥 - Show off what you have got! 💪🏼 - If you think people are looking at you, THEYRE NOT! Honestly, when I go to the gym, I don’t see anyone, because I am not concentrating on them, my gym time is all about me and bettering myself. Nothing goes through my mind in the gym but concentrating on the muscle groups that I am training. 😅 - If you do catch someone staring at you, they’re jealous! 👍 - Stay in your own lane. I’d love to look like Chris bumstead, but it ain’t what I look like right now. Stop competing with people at the gym, it’s not healthy for you mentally- push yourself.✅ The gym is a friendly community. We go because it is a place to get away from all the bullshit. We go for laughs and gains, not to take the piss out of people who are trying to better themselves. And anyone who is caught taking the piss out of someone is dealt with. PUSH WORKOUT Went shoulder focused today, want to get my overhead pressing better. Due to preparations for moving house, i have 2 leather sofas in my home gym so space is severely limited. . Do you activate your glutes? 🍑 Now glute activation is a controversial subject within the fitness industry, some swear by it, others find it unnecessary. The issue found is that many influencers incorporate it into their regime but don’t explain why it is useful for some people! 🧐 Women’s Health defines glute activation as “ a series of warm-up exercises that properly strengthen the muscles in your bum, which helps to boost your ability to perform”. A more scientific explanation is that glute activation can help to activate your gluteus maximus and surrounding gluteal muscles, therefore encouraging more mind-muscle connection during exercise. The benefit of this is it allows you to utilise your glutes more effectively during your workout rather than other supporting muscle groups, and therefore can help to strengthen them over time.🤓 It may sound odd that your mind can alter your performance or ability to build muscle but it really can! 💪 Many believe glute activation is more essential due to our sedentary lives, which means many of us have dissociated the activation and utilisation of our glutes. Essentially, the more sitting we do, the less likely we are to use our glutes and the weaker they become, thereby further inhibiting our ability to activate them 🤔 Therefore for many, glute activation is an important tool to retrain your body and mind to awaken and utilise your glutes more effectively. Other benefits include they help you to get into the mood or focus necessary to a workout and encourage you to do other mobility exercises that can help you perform exercises during your workout (e.g. hip and ankle mobility work). 👏 Here I demonstrate my top glute activation exercises, but this is not limited to those you can try! 🍑Bodyweight squat pulses. 🍑Single leg reverse lunges. 🍑Banded abductions. 🍑Banded donkey kicks. Ideally you should work to find those that best help you to really feel your glutes! To remind you, glute activation is a great tool to use but NOT necessary to a workout, as some feel no benefit! Recently my training style has been slowly transitioning back to predominantly strength and power training — After the lockdown I had changed my training style to a more hypertrophy (muscle building) regime, because I thought why not. But in all honesty, for me personally, training this way doesn’t compare to training with strength as the primary focus — It makes me feel so good, setting new PR’s, shifting bigger numbers than your last session, just knowing that you’ve got that control over such weights — So yeah, from now on it’s going to be training for maximal power and strength gains. 🎃Healthy Pumpkin Muffins: video recipe coming soon! - I am pretty happy with these because on @myfitnesspal these are the macros for each muffin... . calories: 118🙌 (toppings not included) . 15g carbs . 3.4g fats . 6.1g protein👌@myproteinuk - I am not a chef or a baker, but during lockdown I found this to be a little passion😻. I am the biggest foodie but because I also love to stay healthy I was trying to find healthy recipes online. Unfortunately, often, when you type “healthy recipe for..” and you look at the ingredients you think “maybe we have different ideas of the word healthy!?”...there is still a massive amount of sugar and butter 😱. They are probably super tasty recipes, but I wanted to challenge myself to make something properly healthy but still tasty. I mean, if you expect my healthy recipes to taste like butter and sugar here’s a spoiler for you, they won’t!😂 But they are very tasty and they can satisfy your sweet tooth🍬. At the time I was on a calorie deficit trying to lose a bit of weight, so these muffins have been a life saver!!!🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 - I can’t wait to share the recipe with you😊✨💫

Yesterday push session - shoulder movement - Standing shoulder press machine top set for 6 Pump pic🤣 - First time using this machine standing and it has an unreal feeling. Advised by Mick that when lowering the machine to bring it to chest/nipple height for a good stretch/burn and fuck it felt class. This was my top set , 3 of the 4 sets I did on this so was happy with the numbersXweight overall when using this for this first time. Hoping to progress well with this, another unusual shoulder machine here🙌🏻kept it nice and controlled throughout and ROM can be top notch on this if excited correctly. - Attempted a 7th rep but knew I wasn’t getting it, no point in tryna push for those reps just to fail or even lock out for a second cause you use so much energy it just fatigues you and you don’t recover from it throughout the rest of your session, hence why I stopped chasing it🤷🏼‍♂️ - Toilet pic since nice wee tricep pump 💪

📌Upper body workout. I love a low cost, no membership workout 😂🤣 like and save, it is free😄 - For the series of “no excuses” you can still workout with bands. Never underestimate a band! I know, they look cheap and not effective.. until you try them! - The secret is to increase the reps and get the pump on💥💥 - 🟢Bent over row: initiate the movement by pulling elbows in and squeeze shoulder blades together. . 🟢Seated row: as above (but in this case you hit your upper back) . 🟢Lateral Y raise: keep ribs down and isolate shoulders . 🟢Pull apart: elbows lead the movement and squeeze shoulder blades together 🔥15 reps for 5 rounds - Happy Monday 💫

What even is guava fruit?🤣 Not sure, but if I find one I will definitely try it! - We all know that chicken, yogurt, eggs, tofu are high in protein. But what we sometimes forget is that other vegetables, fruits and other foods might contain a significant amount of protein too! - So next time you eat an avocado, you won’t associate it to FATS but also proteins. I am saying you, but I also mean me🤣 I like to learn about nutrition and sometimes I just get carried away about all there is to learn! Sometimes I find out things I wasn’t even looking for that open my eyes a bit more: like this one👀 - I think we are all a bit guilty of categorising food in just one macro nutrient box but we forget that some foods are much more than that! They are minerals, vitamins, proteins, fats!...!!! ✔️✔️✔️✔️ - 🌱Most green vegetables are high in protein, so are cheeses, pulses .. even pasta (whole wheat!)🤯 - I don’t think I invented the hot water here (an Italian saying) 🤣 I just feel most of the time we don’t question what we are eating.. so it is nice sometimes to go a bit deeper and find out that there is so much more to learn!!!🤩

🍌🍦Banana smoothie/ nice cream. - 😣Why did nobody tell me about this before!?
