April fools Day. Who would have thought a month ago, that we would be where we are today? Our world as we know it has completely changed. This April fools Day will be remembered as the one that wasn't that funny.
By now, most of us know someone who has contracted the virus, who is in self isolation, who must become a teacher and home school their kids, or who has lost their job due to COVID-19.
I am affected by this in a few ways: My very dear friend contracted the virus and luckily was able to recover. As a flight attendant for WestJet, many of my friends and family must self isolate due to travel. I have 3 amazing kids that I must home school now (and they love it), and as of today, I am officially laid off from WestJet after 9 years.
Many tears were shed throughout this past month, times are really scary and no one knows what the future has in store for us, but I have promised to myself to make the best of it.
Cheers to a new chapter in our life! One that will be like no other. Stop and take a moment, look around you and see everything you have to be grateful for and try to make the best of it.
I now have the time to video call my parents and sister daily. They live in Quebec and I don't know when I'll be able to see them next. I really feel like it's brought us closer together.
I have more time to spend in the kitchen with my soul mate. Must I add that we make the best dumplings.
Someone told me universities offer free online courses. Sure enough, I signed myself up at Harvard University for a 13 week course in computer science.
Playgrounds may be closed, but taking my kids out on bike rides looking for the biggest puddles to go through is definitely their favourite.
I have plenty of time now to do a proper spring cleaning and donate all the clothes that don't fit us and toys/games we don't use anymore.
Duolingo has been amazing. I'm learning Spanish while my kids are learning even more French.
