Your mind does not know that it is doing harm. It is just trying to keep you safe. You need to take control and redirect it so that it can respond to life in a healthier way. Some things that may help : 🔸 Pay Attention to Your Thoughts Be aware of your thoughts. You may be so used to your brain overthinking everything that you let it run on autopilot. You need to be aware of your overthinking if you are going to get a handle on it. Pinpointing your triggers and writing them down can help you manage them easier. 🔸 Distance Yourself from the Belief Take a step away from what your brain is telling you. If your mind is worried about having an accident, reframe the wording. Your brain might be saying “you are going to have an accident.” Reword that to yourself. Say “my brain is worried that I will have an accident.” Do not let your mind present you something negative as a foregone conclusion. A fear will seem more real if you accept the conclusive wording. 🔸 Problem Solve Some worries are things that come up over and over. Your mind will be anxious about something and it will keep returning to that thing, no matter how often you redirect it. Take positive steps to alleviate the fear. If it’s something you have some control over, consider how you can prevent the problem, or challenge yourself to identify potential solutions. 🔸 Distractions When anxiety has you locked in a seemingly never-ending loop of thoughts and worries, distract it. Rather than sit and think about a problem for endless amounts of time, you can distract yourself for a short while. Your brain may find better ways to work out a solution in the background while you’re distracted with another task 🔸 Practicing Calm Meditation and mindfulness is especially useful when it comes to anxiety and overthinking. Meditation can pull you back to the present moment and calm down your body should anxiety strike. Your brain means well when it overthinks. Anxiety is all about wanting to be and feel safe. Help your mind make more constructive choices. Choose To Change

OVERTHINKING: PENSARE TROPPO SENZA RIUSCIRE A SMETTERE L’overthinking è una condizione che porta a pensare troppo, continuamente e intensamente, spesso senza arrivare ad una conclusione o a prendere una decisione. non Questa condizione non è sempre patologica: lo diventa quando questa serie di pensieri vaghi è logorante e crea un disagio nella vita di tutti i giorni. L’overthinking può anche essere una strategia per risolvere un problema, dedicando molto tempo alla valutazione dei pro e dei contro di una situazione, e quindi una metodologia positiva di problem solving. Tutto cambia se il pensare continuo si trasforma in un pensare ossessivo. Le vittime dell’overthinking, di solito, hanno delle caratteristiche in comune: sentono il bisogno di tenere la situazione sotto controllo e, di conseguenza, utilizzano questa modalità di pensiero per analizzare qualsiasi situazione o problema, con un eccesso di razionalità e un distacco dagli aspetti emotivi. In altri casi al pensiero incessante e ossessivo è connessa una forma di aggressività, poiché dalla ruminazione possono originare delle forme di risentimento che creano disagio e compromettono le relazionali interpersonali. Spesso l’overthinking è una condizione temporanea, che si verifica in periodi di forte stress o cambiamento. A volte, però, può diventare cronico e deleterio. In condizioni patologiche è necessario chiedere aiuto ad uno specialista. Per far sparire l’overthinking si usa la tecnica della mindfulness, una modalità che permette l’allontanamento dei pensieri: tutte le volte che questi compaiono la persona deve spostare l’attenzione al proprio interno.
