When I was 8, I had found a lost puppy,
She was fragile and brown.
It's said, 'Dogs are man's best friend'
But it always concerned me that how often,
Did I find Lyla jealous of other dogs, when I pet them.
I learned that love's too strong a word,
There's always a secondary emotion for which naked love cease to exist.
When I was 11, I found an injured sparrow.
My grandma prepared a paste for it's bleeding wing,
Dad got me a cage for the tiny, vulnerable bird.
One morning I found the bird chirping to the wild sparrows,
Grandma told me, "I think you know what's needed to be done".
I learned that freedom's worth is more than the emotional strings.
I learned to let go of the ones who claims freedom.
When I was 14, I found a little adorable kitten.
He was white, with black spots all over.
Soon it grew to be a strong, independent cat.
He used to go to the streets in the morning and return by dusk,
But one day the feline didn't come back.
I knew what granny would've said this time,
"Sometimes bonds are not comprehended from the other end".
It's funny how I see these creatures everywhere,
Soaring in the clouds, swimming in the pond, running in the meadow,
And I see teachers of mother nature trying to teach
The mankind, in her enigmatic, metaphoric ways.
Irony or tragedy, whatever you may call it,
A poet's eye is rare to be found, and hence
The most integral lessons of life remain unprecedented,
And the teachers are left isolated behind the bars of zoo.
