Bridge the Gap
In a relationship, we’re meant to be an encounter of Christ’s love for one another. We’re meant to help bridge the gap between Heaven and earth. The Gospel tells us as follows:
- We were made for a relationship with God
- That relationship gets broken by our sins
- God sent His only Son, Jesus, to die for our sins and bridge that gap that we created
- By believing this truth and following Jesus (loving one another the way He did), we are saved.
So Jesus is the only true gap to bring us back into a relationship with God. But the beautiful thing about His love is that He invites us to participate in the bridging of the gap. He invites us to participate in the work of salvation. He invites us to love, as He did, with selflessness, kindness, patience, and mercy. The more we do this, the more we encounter Heaven, because we are becoming more united with Christ. And since God made us in His image, the more we love like Christ the more we actually become truly ourselves. We are beloved children of God. All of us. We just have to choose to live in that identity, our true identity. When we do so, we open our heart to be loved.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
- John 14:6
