An image from the archives captured during my first trip to the Canadian Rockies back in 2018. I captured this photo with the first-gen Sony A7 and a vintage Pentax 50mm f/1.4 film lens that I picked up for $50 and adapted to my camera with a $20 adapter. Last night, I decided to go through my archives from 3 years ago and edit some photos from of a few of my favorite shoots. It reminded me just how solid of a camera setup that little A7 and all of my film lenses really was. I shot with that cheap budget gear for about 2 years until I was making decent money with photography and could upgrade to the system I use now (A7Rii + 3 modern AF lenses). While new gear certainly makes things easier and gives you higher resolution shots with more detail and clarity; you don't need pricey gear to get a good photo. Some of my favorite all-time images were captured on my A7 using those film lenses. The point is, whatever you have to shoot with, even if it's just a smartphone; the best camera is the one you have with you. So get out and shoot! Don't worry about the gear. 📸
Just a reminder, there are roughly 36 hours left for registration in the Colorscapes Masterclass. As soon as the clock hits zero on Friday, I'm closing the cart. If you want to sign up, head to the link in my bio.
