After spending so many years in Japan, Japanese food in the US is often a letdown.
There's a Japanese place next to the Target closest to our new place, so I thought it'd be a nice treat after all the cooking I've been doing. I was excited by the reviews and the Japanese spoken in the kitchen when we went to get this, but it was just ok. Eggs were great, decent broth, but I didn't like their noodles. The ebi mayo made me happier, though. Looks like I need to get some pork belly and make my own as well as some hokkien char mee this next week (the closest Indonesian, Malaysian, or Singaporean food places are in LA, and I'm not going anywhere near there while they're a major Covid-19 hotspot. I miss being able to go to Malaysia Cafe in Wichita and get hokkien char mee or mee goreng or char kway teow...).
