Glaze layers 3 & 4 starting to build the spatial depth with form shadow and cast shadow. Painting opaque paint into the transparent and semi-transparent glaze medium is so important as the glaze starts to resist the brushstrokes. The Renaissance painter Titian recommended 30 - 40 glazes ... some of which were almost indistinguishable from the base layer but optically it could make the difference.
