I got a lot of questions after my story post yesterday about the MRI I got. Here’s what’s up for those who don’t know. About two years ago, I got an injury somewhere in my lower back area that caused pain in my right glute. It seemed to come out of nowhere - I hadn’t had an accident or fall or anything like that. The pain was so bad at first that I couldn’t roll over in bed without intense pain. It also went down the back of my leg. From what I learned, it seemed like it could be a pinched sciatic nerve but I wasn’t sure. I had heard that chiropractors could help so I went to one for about a month. At first it seemed like it was helping but then improvement stopped so I stopped going and went to my doctor. They sent me to physical therapy. By that point, the pain was down but it hurt when bending backwards so I had been avoiding backbends, especially in yoga. They helped me start to get some mobility back but it didn’t solve the root problem. For the next year and a half it was manageable but still felt a little off. There were three instances where it flared up after lifting something heavy where I then couldn’t walk without pain and had to take several days off from exercising. Eventually I went back to my doctor and they wanted to send me to physical therapy again but I asked about going to a different type of doctor - PM&R - and ended up going there. From there they sent me to physical therapy because they said an MRI wouldn’t be covered by insurance. Physical therapy didn’t help. I went back to PM&R and they said there wasn’t much they could do. I wasn’t satisfied with that answer. I suggested an MRI so I could get a proper diagnosis. Yesterday I got the MRI and am now awaiting the results.
I am not sure at this point the cause of my issue. But the reason I am posting this video is because my pain began the day after shooting this video and several others. I don’t know if it is at all related but everything seemed totally fine that day.
I am not experiencing significant pain in my back now. I did the MRI in hopes that I can get to the bottom of the issue and prevent future pain and flare ups.
Also, the MRI machine is scary af. They need to fix that. 😅
